Nystagmus

Definition

Rhythmic, oscillating motions of the eyes are called nystagmus. The to-and-fro motion is generally involuntary. Vertical nystagmus occurs much less frequently than horizontal nystagmus and is often, but not necessarily, a sign of serious brain damage. Nystagmus can be a normal physiological response or a result of a pathologic problem.

The Anthem of the Wise Old Ones

The marrow dries within the bones
The ears do seem to have lost their tones
Let's go forth and have some fun
Let's have some fun before the day is done.

To sing out loud
The songs of yore
And some songs
Never heard before

Inhibitions lost and gone to bits
Who would care if they're not hits
We'll sing and dance to please ourselves
While to find the meaning, the critic delves

The comfort zones of who we are
Are maps of how we've come so far
Our clothes don't fit and do not match
But who's to care where lies the patch?!

Whilst the young
Will use their wiles
We old ones
Will use our guiles

A lesson learned from there and here
Some funny and some full of fear
Have taught us well on survival skills
We don't need any fire drills.

So laugh at us
Perhaps even scorn
But we knew it all
Before you were born!
