Our Big Bertha. My Big Bertha. I called her that, named with great affection. The rest of my family called her 'The Honda'. We bought her as a new model Honda Accord in the summer of 1991. She came home to our house in Evanston, sleek, 'midnight blue' with a barely obvious refined, metallic gleam. Her interior upholstery and panels were also a refined cream color. There was this elegant charcoal colored dashboard, with an impressive array of switches to control her temperature and speed, thoughtfully planned by the engineers at Honda's automotive division. Everything was conveniently at hand. The windows raised and lowered with the flick of a switch.
