Nystagmus

Definition

Rhythmic, oscillating motions of the eyes are called nystagmus. The to-and-fro motion is generally involuntary. Vertical nystagmus occurs much less frequently than horizontal nystagmus and is often, but not necessarily, a sign of serious brain damage. Nystagmus can be a normal physiological response or a result of a pathologic problem.

It is Thee I seek

The first time I heard Mohan Singh Khangura's voice, I was transfixed. A simple direct melodious voice singing a Rabindra Sangeet in Bengali, with a subtle hint of a North Indian accent, that made an instant connection with some part of my soul.
Rabindranath Tagore had a background knowledge of Hindustani Classical Music.
To blend that knowledge into some of his Bengali Renaissance poetry and song was a masterly endeavour. Thus, those who have a background in Hindustani Classical music are able to bring those songs to life more easily. However, one must reach a notch above the technical wizardry- to lay bare the soul of the song. And that is what I heard from Mohan Singh's music.
Mohan Singh Khangura is the Head of Department of the Classical Music Section at Vishwa Bharati University at Santiniketan, Tagore's very own creation.
